Potty Training and Big Girl Bed Part II

SO.....I reported last Tuesday that we were starting to potty train Savannah. Well...she has done VERY VERY well, and basically staying dry while we are at home. Since Tuesday, we have been working on a chart for every time she goes "potty" and she already filled out her "pee pee" section yesterday! So, in five days, she has become a pro!!! I just wanted to report on her excellent progress.

Secondly, because the grandparents are here, we have gotten a lot done with Savannah's new room! She slept in her big girl twin bed for her first time last night! She did very well. She was a little more scared tonight, but is now sleeping soundly. Here are a few pictures from her new room and her potty chart!

Captain Money.....I mean Mundie

Today was a very special day in Brent's career. He was promoted to Captain this morning. We were trying to get Savannah to say "Captain Mundie" but what she said sounded more like, "Captain Money," so we have gotten a lot of laughs out of that one! Brent's parents came in and his dad did the oath of office, and Jenny and I pinned on his new rank. It was a fun day, and two other officers were promoted today as well. Brent was also very sweet to get his mom and me some very pretty flowers, which Savannah loved to sniff. Here are some pictures and a video from the day! Enjoy.

The six Capts. in the Honor Guard: Kettlesen, Hawkins, Mundie, Walker, Stevens, and Mask. The two on the far left and the one of the far right were already Captains, but the three in the middle are our newest!

Rainy days are here.....I'm starting to think for good...

So, yesterday the sky opened up on DC and we went from bright and sunny weather to a torrential downpour! There were trees everywhere, people stranded, electricity out, cars flooded in, and even people killed from falling trees.......but what is amazing is there were still funerals going on at Arlington. Here is a clip from some random guy taping one of the AF Honor Guard (Brent's guys) funerals when it went from descent weather to...well, you'll see.....what dedication these guys have to the family who lost their loved ones. Don't worry though, Capt. Mask, who happened to be in charge of the funerals yesterday, finally called them out of formation and took them into safety. What a cool video!

PS-If I weren't clear....No, Brent wasn't there, these are just some of the guys that work here with him!

Potty Training and Big girl Bed

So, Savannah had been R-E-F-U-S-I-N-G to even sit on the potty before our beach trip. However, my mom told her about Dora panties (pullups) and told Savannah that she could wear big girl Dora panties if she went to the potty.....So...LUCKILY someone sells Dora pullups, so I bought a pack yesterday. I thought it was a good idea because of my child's obsession with Dora. So, last night I tell her that she is wearing big girl panties and that she does not need to pee pee on her pretty Dora panties. She sat on the potty, but nothing happened. The good news is, she didn't pee pee in the "panties" either. Then, today, I have taken her to the potty like six times and...nothing...but no pee pee in the panties. She saved it all up for when I put a diaper on her in the car and at nap. Then, after nap I put real Dora cotton panties on her and told her the same thing...You can't pee pee on your pretty Dora panties, so make sure to tell mommy you need to go to the potty. Still...nothing...THEN!, after dinner, I told her we needed to sit on the potty and try again.

I should back up and tell you I have been telling her about this chart I have that she is going to get to put stickers on when she sits on the potty, pee pee's, or poo poo's, but hadn't actually made it yet.

Ok, on with the story...So, after dinner, she sat on the potty, and in five seconds pees! So, of course, we scream and go tell daddy. So, I tell her she can put a sticker on this chart I hadn't made...I rushed in the office and got the poster board and very hurriedly colored on a chart. Here is a picture of what it looked like...

So, I told her to pick out a balloon sticker to put under the pee pee section, and then we put stickers on the trying section from the day today. I am only doing a trying section for a little while because she had been screaming and refusing to even sit on the potty, so I feel she should get a reward for listening and trying...at least for a while...but what do I know...I am making it up as I go along...only acting as though I have a clue about what I am doing. I also decided that once Savannah does something on the potty a certain amount of times, I will give her a prize. Something like a piece of candy or to play a game we do not play very often. I told her that she has to try really hard to get a prize. She just happens to love prizes, so she was getting pumped!!

Savannah was soooooooo excited to put the stickers on, she ran back into the bathroom, pulled her panties down, and wham, peed again!! She was so excited! So...another sticker was put on. She went back into the bathroom, and again, pulled her panties down, and told us she pee peed, but she didn't, so we told her she only pee pees when something actually comes out, not just when she sits! It was very funny. So, no poo poo today, not even in a diaper, so....I guess we will see what tomorrow brings...

Just having her pee on the potty is a huge victory, so I had to share!

Next....last night we took the rail off of Savannah's crib and told her she was going to be a big girl and sleep in her big girl bed. She was fine, didn't get up, and went right to sleep. However, at 5am, she feel out of the bed and screamed a little. Scared me more than her, I am sure. So, I rocked her and told her to stay away from the side where she could fall. She did great and slept until 8:30. Nap time was a little more of a challenge. I had to go in twice and tell her to stay in her bed. But, after that, she took a two hour nap!

I feel we are making her a big girl overnight to get ready for the new baby. I know we still have five months, but we didn't want to push all this on her too close to the baby.

Our biggest challenge yet will be to get rid of the "night night," or passy she loves so dearly. She doesn't use it except to fall asleep, but I think we are going to have some rough nights getting rid of it. So, our decision is to work on the big girl bed and potty training and leave stealing her night night to last. That way, she has her comfort while learning to be a big girl, at least for a while!

So, this is the adventure in the Mundie house this week! Brent's parents are going to be here Thursday and stay about a week, so I am sure we will have some adventures to write about then. Brent is getting promoted to Capt. on Friday, so they are coming in for the ceremony and to be here when we find out what the baby is!

So...for now...goodnight and happy blogging!

Virginia Beach

This past week, Savannah and I went to Knoxville for my brother's engagement, Will's wedding, and then off to Virginia Beach for the week. The engagement party was awesome, Will's rehearsal dinner was great....and then I got sick! YUCK! So, I missed Will's wedding after driving that whole way! I couldn't believe it. I was lucky to have gotten to go to the rehearsal dinner the night before because I was able to see all my friends and that was nice. After I felt better, I drove to meet the family for a nice week at the beach. Savannah was a little intimidated by the waves the first few days, but by the end, she was dancing around. She was also very concerned with the crab situation and kept telling us to, "Watch dos cwabs." It was very sweet. Here are some pictures from this fun week.

Guess The Sex and Pick a name!

When I was pregnant with Savannah, we played a fun little game to guess the sex of the baby. What was funny, is, we had an overwhelming "girl" response. We would love for everyone to participate in this game again. On June 12, we will hopefully (fingers crossed!) find out the sex of this baby!! Please guess using the poll on the top left of the blog! We will post the results as soon as we find out. Thanks for playing!

After you guess, feel free to post a comment on this blog to tell us why you think we are having a boy or a girl.

Also, we have some names in mind, and want to know which ones you like! We will have two more polls for you to pick your favorite boy and girl name! Again, you can leave a comment on the post about why you like a certain name!

This should be fun!!!!
